Pete’s Pakeha Pou-Pou goes on display at Kaitaia’s new Te Ahu Community Centre

After a year of carving, Pete’s Pakeha Pou-Pou has finally been erected in Kaitaia’s new Te Ahu Community Centre. The Northland Age were there to cover the unvieling, producing this story.

A recent guest of ours, Max Withey of New Zealand – North to South, has also written about the pou on his site. For that story click here

Below are links to a couple of videos where Pete talks us through the images on the carving.

  1. Fan-bloody-tastic Pete! I loved reading and hearing about the Pou-Pou. I am very impressed with the detailed history of the pakeha in Kaitaia that you have so beautifully woven into your carving. I look forward to my next visit over the ditch to see the Pou-Pou in person.
